The Discovery Sport has been a deserved best-seller for Land Rover, with its versatile 5+2 seating and compact dimensions making it the ideal family SUV. To keep it ahead of the competition, Land Rover has comprehensively re-engineered it with new architecture, drivetrains and technology.

Design

Land Rover has refreshed the design of the Discovery Sport, with new exterior features that include a new grille, front and rear bumpers, lower body mouldings and LED headlamps. Beneath the skin the 2020 model has an all-new platform, Land Rover’s Premium Transverse Architecture. Inside, the look is cleaner and more upmarket. The second-row seats now split 20:40:20, giving a claimed 24 different interior layouts as well as seat-down rear load space of 1,794-litres.

Performance

The 2020 Discovery Sport is available with three diesel and two petrol drivetrains. With the exception of the entry model front-wheel drive D150 Manual, all come with 48V mild hybrid tech, which stores energy from braking and allows the engine to coast during deceleration, providing near-instant restarts and electrically-assisted acceleration. The best economy and emissions figures are achieved by the D150, which claims 47.8mpg on the WLTP test, while the top performer is the petrol P250, which can cover 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds.

Technology

The responsive new Touch Pro infotainment software puts control at your fingertips and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Innovative technologies include the high-definition rear-view mirror which can switch between camera view and mirror view, plus the ClearSight Ground View allows the driver to ‘see through’ the bonnet to the wheels to avoid anything from rocks to parking bollards.

Safety

Standard safety features include front and rear parking aids, a rear camera, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor and Cruise Control and Speed Limiter. The optional ‘Driver Assist’ pack adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Steer Assist and 360-degree Surround Camera, as well as Blind Spot Assist, High Speed Emergency Braking, Park Assist, 360-degree Parking Aid, Rear Traffic Monitor, Wade Sensing and Clear Exit Monitor.

Towing

Discovery Sport can tow up to 2,500kg* with a choice of optional detachable tow bar or electrically deployable tow bar. Advanced Tow Assist technology makes reversing with a trailer safer and more intuitive.

SMART SETTINGS

Via your smartphone and key fob, Discovery Sport is able to recognise you and learn your preferences – for example, setting the navigation to your favourite route home.

Matrix LED Headlights

The optional Matrix LED headlights feature an adaptive beam which dims and adjusts automatically, giving you a curtain of light that shields oncoming traffic from glare.

Discovery Sport Features

With seating for up to seven people, an intelligently designed interior and urban-friendly dimensions, the Discovery Sport is a supreme all-rounder. Off-road capability is outstanding. Terrain Response 2 technology allows drivers to choose from four modes (Comfort, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud & Ruts). Alternatively, you can let Auto mode select the most appropriate mode for the conditions.

The new Land Rover Discovery Sport standard interior features include; Ambient Interior Lighting, 10" Touch Pro, Remote App, Two-zone Climate Control and driver assistance features such as Rear Camera, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter.

Adaptive Dynamics

Adaptive Dynamics technology monitors wheel position and body movements for a supple ride and precise driving dynamics in all conditions. The electronically controlled dampers provide the perfect balance of comfort, refinement and agility.

Smartphone Connectivty

Using the Remote app, you can check the fuel level, unlock the vehicle and even pre-heat or cool the interior remotely from your smartphone.
